This collection contains pages from the scrapbook of J. Blankfard Martenet. This scrapbook is a compliation of news clippings, magazine pages, invitations, advertisements, calendars, pamphlets, and correspondence that reflects his interests and patronage to the Baltimore Museum of Art during the years 1929 to 1951.
So far in this digital collection, the pages reflect heavily on Martenet's interest in the artist Aaron Sopher. Sopher was an artist active in Maryland and New York and was known for genre painting, cartoons, illustration, and etching. The pages in the scrapbook contain correspondence between Martenet and Sopher, as well as editiorial pieces about Sopher, and even some drawings and sketches by Sopher.
